Getting to know Matt:
Q: What do you look forward to most in your day?
A: Breakfast. And that’s not because of the fresh eggs from our backyard hens or because I enjoy a good meal. When I started at Hub in New York, I was out of the house each morning before anyone was even out of bed. Then I joined the Hat Trick project and was away from home four days a week. So, there were a lot of mornings I was not home to eat breakfast with the family. I’m a big believer in mealtime also being family time so working from home has provided me the opportunity for some invaluable uninterrupted family time. I start my days cooking breakfast for my wife and three kids. Some mornings I’ll find myself playing chess with my 8-year-old while we eat or putting Legos together with my 5-year-old in between bites. This may all be going on while I feed my two-year-old my breakfast because for some reason she always prefers mine over hers. Whatever it is, each morning is an opportunity for my wife and I to sit down with the kids, ignore the chaos, and start the day with the right foot forward.
Q: What is your favorite thing about working at Hub International?
A: The people. When I first started at Hub, I kept hearing how great of a company it was, how long people stayed, etc. It didn’t take me long to realize that it’s not the company that’s great, rather the people who work here make the company great. Over the past 7 years, I’ve had different managers who have consistently looked out for me and my career. I’ve also witnessed this with my colleagues. I don’t get the big corporate company feel here. I get the feeling that we’re all working together to take something great and make it even better. It makes me look forward to work each day.
