Exclusion: This Insurance Policy provides no coverage for any Claim in any way caused by, arising out of or resulting from any disease or contagion (See attached)
- This program is for LIABILITY coverage ONLY. It protects the insured fitness professional when negligent acts and/or omissions result in bodily injury and/or property damage to a third party.
- The policy DOES NOT cover:
- Injury to the insured instructor themselves or damage to the insured instructor’s property/equipment (Personal Accident or Property coverage)
- Errors and omissions causing financial damage (as opposed to property damage or physical injury) to another person (Errors & Omissions coverage)
- Cyber liability (protection again data breach or loss of valuable data)

- Individual policies are effective, and coverage commences, on the day the insurance is purchased and extends for 12 months
- International Travel
Coverage for travel outside Canada may be provided under the following conditions:- 14 days of international travel (both teaching and participating if not organized/hosted by the insured) are included as common to the operations of the insured per trip, anticipating that the insured will travel back to Canada after the travel is complete (ie, if the insured continues travel past the 14 days to other locations/retreats that require coverage, that will be considered part of the travel time and may incur an AP charge)
- Travel to multiple locations within the 14 days is included, as long as that information is provided before departure
- Up to 3 separate travel exposures per policy term, additional trips are to be referred
- Trips lasting 15 to 30 days will have an AP of $10/day
- Trips lasting longer than 30 days are to be referred
- If the insured is hosting the class/retreat there will be an AP of $100
- All participants must make their own travel plans, the insured does not coordinate the transportation/lodging or other non yoga related components of travel
- Trips to countries under sanction or have been identified by the Government of Canada as having active advisories to avoid travel are declined
- Risks with international travel exposure will include a designated events limitation endorsement
- Coverage does NOT extend to:
- Instruction of professional athletes or carded amateur athletes
- Activities that are not included in the “who’s eligible” list above
- Work-related rehabilitation of any condition
- Tanning beds
- Coverage does not extend to studios (including home studios) or other facilities that you own, lease or rent on a long-term basis. If you need studio/fitness facility coverage, contact HUB
- Coverage under this program is afforded only to the individual, not employees, and only for the activity(ies) declared in the application. If you require coverage for other activities/businesses that are not declared in the application, contact HUB
- You are advised to review the Coverage Summary and read the policy wording you’ll receive upon purchase. If you have any questions related to coverage structure or require an explanation of the coverage provided on this policy, contact HUB
- Retroactive coverage is NOT available for those with prior claims-made policies
This policy is coverage for the individual yoga instructor. This application does not apply to studio insurance, coverage of building lease or employees. To apply for yoga studio insurance or for more information on this, please contact CYA at [email protected] and state, "studio insurance inquiry" in subject line. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
If you are also a fitness instructor, you are required to confirm that:
- All trainees under your instruction complete a Get Active Questionnaire once per year
- All trainees under your instruction that are required to consult with a physician upon completing a Get Active Questionnaire, must provide you with authorization in writing from the physician confirming it is acceptable for the trainee to participate in the proposed activity
- When biking, all trainees under your instruction wear helmets and, if biking between dusk and dawn, wear reflective clothing, have their bicycle equipped with lights and have the lights turned on
The registered Canadian Yoga Alliance Instructor is permitted to conduct online classes and forms part of your coverage.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
- All participants must be registered clients and must be recorded by the instructor
- Publicly-accessible broadcast tools such Facebook Live, YouTube, etc. and pre-recorded videos are not acceptable methods of delivering online training
- Permitted delivery tools must include the use of controlled, multi-screen video conferencing programs such as Skype or Zoom (ZOOMUS)
- All injuries are to be documented
- Acupuncture, shiatsu, osteopathy, yoga therapy and Ayurveda is strictly prohibited

- Blanket contractual - to provide coverage when you enter into an insured contract
- Cross liability/separation of insureds
- Claims caused by advertising liability, such as libel, copyright infringement, invasion of privacy
Exclusions – what’s not included:
- Data (damage caused by data breach and loss of valuable (eg., client) data)
- Any acts of terrorism
- Illnesses related to asbestos exposure
- Illnesses related to mold, fungi and fungal derivatives
- Injuries caused by pollution
- Damages caused by nuclear energy
- Injury/damage due to acts of war
- Damages caused by abuse or molestation
Cost
The premium under this program is fully retained upon acceptance of payment. This means that the premium will not be refunded if the policy is cancelled prior to the policy expiry date.
The premium covers all the modalities applied for and for which the applicant has a certificate of qualification.
Costs exclude applicable provincial taxes.
