President, Brooklyn Operations
Steven Guthart currently serves as the President of HUB International Northeast's Brooklyn Operations. Steve specializes in risk management strategies for mid-sized clients.
Steve’s primary role is growing the General Commercial and Health Care practices within HUB International, both organically and through strategic acquisitions. His overall responsibilities include including Business Planning, Budgeting, Marketing, New Business Development, Client Services, Staffing, Cross Sell Initiatives and Senior Carrier Relationships.
From 2005 to 2010, Steven was responsible for overseeing HUB’s Hirsch Wolf division, one of the leading brokerages nationwide, serving the senior living facility / healthcare industry. In this role, he led several HUB Northeast business practices including Healthcare (Senior Living Facilities, Nursing Homes) Wrap-ups, Fine Arts, Architects & Engineers Professional Liability Practice, Private Equity, Risk Management, Claims and Loss Control. He also served as a market and client resource for a Private Equity business initiative, as well as HUB’s Risk Management clients. As a member of HUB International Limited’s National Claims Team, he served on several insurance company advisory councils and committees. He frequently hosted educational seminars for staff members at HUB and previously led lecture discussions while holding positions with carriers.
In 2008, Mr. Guthart became part of HUB Northeast’s Mergers & Acquisitions team and was involved in several phases including identifying acquisitions, due diligence, integration, perpetuation planning and overseeing retail agency & brokerage operations. When joining the company in 2005, Mr. Guthart was the Chief Marketing Officer and chaired the national marketing call.
Prior this appointment at HUB, he most recently served as Vice President/Partner of a regional brokerage based on Long Island, where he was responsible for the Commercial Lines Operations. He has held various management positions with major insurance carriers including American International Group, Tokio Marine and Aetna Casualty & Surety, as well as other regional brokerage firms, including Corak & Guthart Financial Services, where he was Principal/President of the company. His carrier experience includes management roles in international underwriting operations, multinational accounts, Highly Protected Risks and reinsurance. He frequently hosted educational seminars for staff members at HUB and previously led lecture discussions while holding positions with carriers.
